EXT. MAGNOLIA BOULEVARD, NORTH HOLLYWOOD
Sydney’s futuristic car pulls to the curb in front of the Vermouth, one of several small theaters on a block of auto body shops and used clothing stores. Sydney and Larry get out of the car. The theater’s marquee reads: FLING.

LARRY
What’s this?
SYDNEY
The midnight show. You’re a patron of the arts, aren’t you?
INT. THEATER – ON THE STAGE
A spotlight comes up on a bare-breasted actress wearing a kilt. Her name is MINNIE.
MINNIE
The Highlands are bare; the Lowlands are bare of trees.
A mournful BAGPIPE plays a few notes from backstage.

ON THE CROWD – SYDNEY AND LARRY

The 50-seat theater is dark and run down. There are only a dozen people in the audience, mostly young and arty.

MINNIE (O.S.)
Ay, the poor wee bairn ’as not shade, nor stick to feed the fire ’neath ’is porridge.
Sydney nudges Larry enthusiastically. Larry, wondering what the hell he’s doing here, forces a smile.

EXT. BRENTWOOD MANSION GROUNDS – NIGHT

Napolitano breaks away from some admirers in the house and moves outside toward Celeste, who is drinking and flirting with a waiter away from the crowd. As he walks past a group of high-powered agent-types at the bar --
