Right of Way 60

Napolitano enters, looking like hell. His face is bruised and swollen, and his clothes are trashed.

NAPOLITANO
When this is over, I’ll see that you get a commendation from the mayor.
DELAND
You look good. What have I told you about cruising Boystown alone?
NAPOLITANO
(ignores it)
What’s my schedule, Sam?

He starts stripping off his clothes, as --

SAM
Union leaders on the Wilshire corridor project at ten. Lunch with the presidents of the City Council and the Supes. Ribbon-cutting at a new charter high school at three. Dinner...
NAPOLITANO
(interrupting; down to his shorts)
Cancel dinner.
(to the cops)
And you cancel yours. It’s open house at The Order tonight. Don’t worry, it’s informal.
SAM
We’ll need to schedule something with the press...
NAPOLITANO
Not yet.

He heads for his private bathroom which has a shower. He still addresses the detectives.

NAPOLITANO
And I’m tired of getting knocked on the head. See if you can keep that from happening tonight.

And he disappears into the bathroom.
