CELESTE
If I knew this was all about business, I would have stayed with the waiter.
NAPOLITANO
I’m serious.
CELESTE
So am I.
NAPOLITANO
Larry’s involved with something, and I think he might be in over his head.

Reluctantly, she pulls out a hand-written report, neatly drawn up on yellow legal paper, then drops it with the map onto her lap. Napolitano turns west onto Sunset.

CELESTE
I can’t read this in the car. Can it wait till we get home?
NAPOLITANO
I’d like to do this without Larry.
CELESTE
Then you’re in luck, because God knows where he is. I’ve been calling him all night.

A passing streetlight briefly illuminates her face, revealing a look of vulnerability and desire.

CELESTE
Please come home with me, Russ. That house is so big without him.

She puts a hand on his knee. Napolitano keeps driving.

EXT. VERMOUTH THEATER - BACK ALLEY - NIGHT

Rannoch waits by the stage door in the back alley, the hood of his sweatshirt pulled tight. He hears FOOTSTEPS and jerks his head to see Sydney approach from the darkness.
