WAYNE
What are you waiting for?

Deland resumes his descent.

INT. WOLF'S LAIR - NIGHT

Sydney, bandaged around the middle with his shirt open, is dozing in a recliner as the big-screen blares Adult Swim cartoons. He awakes with a start, disoriented.

SYDNEY
Celeste...? Oh, Jesus.

He looks at his watch, piecing things together in his mind. He gets up gingerly, purposely knocking aside a walker that he's left there. He calls out --

SYDNEY
Rachel? Where the hell is everybody?

He pours himself a shot of scotch from a bottle on the coffee table, drinks it down and moves off.

EXT. HOLLYWOOD SIGN - NIGHT

Rachel and Napolitano crouch out of sight, beneath the front of the second “L.” They look out toward the city below them, its TWINKLING LIGHTS beckoning before dawn.

RACHEL
Wow…
NAPOLITANO
(peeks back up the mountain)
Stay down. If they’re coming, they’ll be coming the way we came.
Rachel takes his arm, smiles sweetly and snuggles against him.
NAPOLITANO
Tell me -- why do you think I’m your dad? I mean, ’cause your Mom never told me that.
RACHEL
She told me -- finally. The other night, when everybody was looking for you. I heard all about the romantic trip you two took on that train. She really loved you.

Napolitano smiles and looks away, lost in thought.

RACHEL
I guess she wanted me to know… you know, in case something happened.

The moment is broken, as the SOUND of a police chopper approaches. Napolitano quickly scans the pre-dawn sky.
