We're in serious pie-baking mode around here, which means weekly trips to the Santa Monica Farmers Market for See Canyon apples, the best (imho) apples around. And since the Market is on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when Daisy runs her friends ragged at the local doggie day care, the market visits have expanded to include a side trip to Venice. The stated mission is to see friends, which is always fun, but the truth is that it's also for Walt, who loooooooooves Venice. The streets, the scents, the other dogs, the many people who stop to give the handsome border collie a pat and a compliment, he's in his element.
The whole point of this being that among the various signs and statues and paintings and other quirks that turn Venice into a vast art installation is this little lending library, tucked into a wooden fence. With, of course, considering the venue, a pinch of politics and a dash of mysticism.
