Pink hats for marches started in Atwater Village

At The Little Knittery in Atwater Village, Jayna Zweiman (left) and store owner Cat Koyle launched the idea for a pussy power symbol to be shared and worn at Jan. 21 marches all over the world.

Koyle says there is no real estimate for how many pink hats have been knitted and disbursed through the Pussyhat Project. "Some say there are 100,000 but we really have no way of knowing," she says. Women gave been gathering at The Knittery for weeks to create their handmade contributions in advance of Saturday's marches expressing solidarity with women in the face of the new Trump Administration.
