I stole the above headline from this week's "Projects We Love" newsletter on Kickstarter. Kickstarter's staff is promoting a new campaign to raise funds for a documentary about the black cowboy lifestyle in Compton, California--an important part of Los Angeles history. "Fire on the Hill: The Story of the Compton Cowboys" details the story of a group of riders who preserve the traditions of the black cowboy lifestyle in Compton. The current iteration of the group devotes itself to gang intervention activities and struggles to rebuild its stables, which burned to the ground in 2012.
The filmmakers need to raise $60,000 by Saturday, March 21st in order to complete their film. They are only 1/3 of the way there.
Please check out this important project and support it.
