Hollyhock House a valentine to Los Angeles

A long line of Angelenos was already outside when the restored Hollyhock House opened in Barnsdall Park on Friday afternoon. The crowds kept coming into Valentine's Day. The landmark was open for 24 hours to celebrate its renovation after three years of work. Mayor Eric Garcetti took part in the opening ceremony along with Kate Devine Brady, the great granddaughter of Aline Barnsdall, who commissioned the home on what was then called Olive Hill in 1919. Hollyhock House was the first major Los Angeles project of architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
