Similar to the sharp national decline, the September unemployment rate was at 10.2 percent, down from 10.6 percent the month before - the lowest level since February, 2009. That's still the third highest jobless rate, behind Nevada and Rhode Island. The separate payroll survey shows that only 8,500 jobs were added in September, another disappointing number for a state that had been outpacing the nation in job growth for much of the year (only 12,000 jobs were added in August) . Over the last 12 months, the state has added 262,000 jobs. We'll have more later. (BLS)
