June was another encouraging month for state employment, with a gain of 38,300 payroll jobs (most of any state in the nation), and a drop in the unemployment rate to 10.7 percent from 10.8 percent a month earlier. That's still the third-highest jobless rates in the nation after Nevada and Rhode Island, but the job increases have been strong over the last two months. May's payroll gain was revised upward to 45,900. Here's the BLS report. We'll have more later.
