In-N-Out's quick trip to Tokyo

The OC-based burger chain took over the ZipZap restaurant on March 28, but a spokesman tells the OC Register that there are no immediate plans to open in Japan. Similar pop-ups have been done in Sydney and Shanghai. Story first appeared at psfk.com. From the Register:

So, why would the chain suddenly debut a menu in Japan? Here's what In-N-Out spokesman Carl Van Fleet had to tell me when I asked him about the Tokyo pop-up: "That was us in Tokyo. In-N-Out Burger did sell our burgers at an event in Tokyo in March. We have done events like this before in other countries and they are just one part of our efforts to promote and expand our brand as well as reach out to customers around the world.
