Starting Tuesday, Alaska Airlines will operate out of Terminal 6 instead of Terminal 3, AirTran (which is in the process of being taken over by Southwest) will move to Terminal 1 instead of Terminal 3, and Spirit will be out of Terminal 3 instead of Terminal 6. Alaska has spent $271 million to renovate 6, with new check-in kiosks, bag-check stations and a new security screening system for checked baggage. Some of you might recall that Terminal 3 had been the location for TWA flights - and later, some of the American Airlines flights. For years one of the airport's sleepier terminals, it's become a lot busier with the addition of Virgin America and JetBlue.
