Just to bookend the earlier item about a record number of tourists coming to L.A., the airport saw a 4.7 percent increase in passengers last year, to 61.9 million. International traffic grew by almost 5 percent. Last year's increase is due in part to more overseas flights, although the overall numbers are still below the pre-9/11 level of 67 million. One not-so-terrific stat: Air cargo tonnage fell 3.8 percent for reasons not entirely clear. Here's the release.
