LAX expansion taking shape

Redoing the airport is one of those positive news stories that's not getting as much notice as it should - perhaps because it's so easy to keep ragging about the place. Making over the Bradley terminal is the centerpiece of the overhaul, and as you can see from the images below, the place is starting to take shape. From the Daily Breeze:

The renovated Bradley terminal will double in size to 2.1 million square feet and be equipped with 18 airline gates, half of which will be able to accommodate the next generation of super-sized jetliners, including the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. "I don't think there's any airport in the United States that has nine" A380 gates, said Gina Marie Lindsey, executive director of LAX. "The market is demanding these A380 gates and they are also demanding a much better entrance experience, and that's why we're in such a hurry to get this project done."

Completion of much of the terminal, originally set for December, has been set back by several months because of construction complications and bad weather. When it's all over, international passengers will see a dramatic improvement (as will LAX's dreadful reputation). Work at other parts of the airport is also in the pipeline. The photos are from Los Angeles World Airports.
