The Disney Wonder will still offer seven-night packages out of the Port of Los Angeles from Jan. 8 to April 22, and again from Oct. 28 to Dec. 2. But trips for Dec. 9, 16, 23 and 30 have been canceled. Left unclear is whether this means a permanent move out of L.A. or a new destination out of L.A. (possibly Hawaii). However, it can't be great news for either the Port of Los Angeles, which has struggled to strengthen its cruise ship presence, or Mexican tourism, which is getting whacked from all the drug-related violence. From the Daily Breeze:
The 964-foot-long ocean liner pulled into Los Angeles Harbor last year amid much fanfare as part of a two-year deal with an option to extend the stay through the end of 2015. The Port of Los Angeles had tried to lure Disney Cruise Line for several years and was finally able to strike up an agreement that called for making $2.5 million worth of upgrades to the aging cruise terminal, including fresh coats of paint and more lights.
