This is a nice catch for a mall that's been struggling to compete with Rick Caruso's Americana at Brand. Earlier this year, Nordstrom announced plans to move from the Galleria to Americana at Brand, and there's nothing worse for a shopping center than the loss of an anchor. The 120,000-square-foot Bloomingdale's is expected to open in the fall of 2013. The chain's CEO, Michael Gould, said that the store would be "carefully edited for the community and customer."
