Romney has raised $3.9 million in the state, while Rick Perry, who only entered the race in August, has picked up $1.2 million. Meg Whitman, the newly named CEO of Hewlett-Packard, has been a key fundraiser for Romney.- and his moderate credentials are likely to work better in California. He also knows California fairly well, having a home in La Jolla.
