L.A. needs a few new billionaires to put on the Forbes list

Same old names make up the magazine's Southern California contingent. This year's list is topped by OC's Donald Bren, at $12 billion, followed by Patrick Soon-Shiong, at $7 billion. Bill Gates was number one the entire list of 400, at $59 billion. Why so few new names? Well, tracking down someone of great wealth who doesn't want to be tracked down is not easy, and, at the risk of stating the obvious, becoming a billionaire is a bit challenging, especially in the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Here's the rundown:

39 Patrick Soon-Shiong

48 Eli Broad
