That's a jump of 5.4 percent, the best weekly performance in two years. Dow is now at 12,582, having made up a good chunk of its recent losses. But volume was relatively low for the week, indicating that investors are still not clamoring to buy stocks. Plus, the news, to put it charitably, has been mixed. Today's auto sales reports were disappointing, the widely followed ISM index was good, but not great, and goodness knows what next Friday's jobs report will show. Still and all, lots of folks made money this week, which can't be bad. (Bloomberg)
