Christina Norman lasted less than six months after launching L.A.-based OWN, the cable channel co-owned by Oprah Winfrey and Discovery Communications. This must have been a thankless job, both because of the media hype over the channel (expectations were absurd) and having Winfrey and her minions hovering over the operation. Poor ratings have not helped - viewership during certain parts of the day were lower than for the Discovery channel that OWN replaced. Running the place on an interim basis will be Peter Liguori, the COO of Discovery Communications. From The Wrap:
Norman tried to downplay expectations from the start, saying no one expected an easy first year: "I think the next year for us is going to be a lot of learning," she told TheWrap days before the network's launch. "Any business is built over time. Oprah built her legacy over 25 years, not one airing."
