April Fools is no joke for laid off workers

Insult to injury dept. From the OC Register:

if it wasn't bad enough to get laid off, 50 Hyundai finance workers in Irvine learned this week there was a mistake on their severance notice and they would be getting half the amount in payments that they originally were told. No joke. Chris Hosford, a Hyundai Motor America spokesman, confirmed Thursday that letters went out to the workers on Friday, March 25, outlining what they would receive in severance. "The amount per week was correct, but the number of weeks was wrong," he said. The notice erroneously doubled the number of weeks of severance the laid-off workers will be paid.
