The film cost about $15 million to make and so far has earned $201 million, a stunning return on investment for The Weinstein Co. Forbes blogger Dorothy Pomerantz has the numbers for other best picture nominees. It's not quite as good as it looks because the production costs do not include marketing and distribution expenses, which can easily be double overall costs (especially when the film is a strong Oscar contender).
