Deloitte's annual survey of Southern California shoppers shows that cautious spending - much of it at discount stores - remains the prevailing sentiment, as it does throughout the country. Locals are slightly more optimistic about the economy improving next year than the nation as whole, and two-thirds say their financial situation is the same or better than last year at this time. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the books, we're entering a slack period of the season. The action should pick up again in another week or so.
