Looks like a weak report - payroll jobs fell by 33,500 in August, although some of the losses were the result of phasing out 7,700 temporary federal Census jobs. The unemployment rate edged higher to 12.4 percent from 12.3 percent in July. Also, the number of people out of work increased by 11,000, to 2.3 million. Haven't seen the L.A. County numbers as of yet. Here's the release.
