As expected, Congressional investigators have accused L.A. Congresswoman Maxine Waters of violating House ethics rules when she arranged a meeting with Treasury officials that focused on the struggles of a bank that her husband had ties to. Three months later, the bank, Boston-based OneUnited Bank, received $12 million in bailout funds. Waters insists she did nothing wrong (even though she admitted to another House member that there would probably be a conflict of interest if she intervened on behalf of a bank). She says she would fight the charges, which means that there might be a House trial this fall. (LAT, NYT)
