Insider trading probe draws in ex-Angels

Federal grand jury in Santa Ana is looking into stock trades made before the 2009 purchase of Advanced Medical Optics by pharmaceutical giant Abbott Labs. At issue, according to the Daily Journal, is whether James Mazzo, who was then CEO of Advanced Medical, improperly passed information to folks about the pending acquisition. Mazzo is still with the company, now renamed Abbott Medical Optics. Besides Mazzo, sources said the grand jury has asked a series of questions about former Angels slugger Doug DeCinces. The prosecutors also believe that former Angels Dave Parker and Eddie Murray received information about the sale.
