The average weekly wage in L.A. County was $1,099 in the fourth quarter of 2009 (latest quarter available). As usual, that's well down the list - NY was highest, at $1,878, followed by Santa Clara ($1,699), Washington, D.C. ($1,614), Fairfield, Conn. ($1,607), and Arlington, VA ($1,594). National average was $942; OC was $1,065. L.A. has a relatively low weekly wage because of its large and diverse employment base. In other words, lots of folks make great money and lots of folks make terrible money. Information is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
