Right at the close, the Dow was up about 275 points, to 10,018. Naysayers might call this a short-term snap-back that's the inevitable result of so many down days. Others are looking at better-than-expected earnings at money manager State Street as the first indication of a strong second quarter (the major banks did well today). A bigger question than second-quarter results will be what companies expect in the July-September period.
