Slashing e-reader prices

Looks like war is at hand. Barnes & Noble is dropping the price of its fledgling Nook e-reader to $199 from $259, and Amazon is cutting the price of its basic Kindle model to $189 from $259 (the larger Kindle DX remains $489). No doubt the iPad is hurting sales (wonder what happened leading up to Father's Day?).
