Details about her speaking gig at Cal State Stanislaus have not been made public, but students say they found documents related to the event. Nothing on her fee (she's said to command 100K per speech), but they supposedly found some snippets in the trash concerning travel and accommodations. She wants, among other things, two first-class airline tickets from Anchorage, a one-bedroom suite and two single rooms in a deluxe hotel. The contract is from the Washington Speakers Bureau, which handles her dates. The Cal State students were at a Sacramento news conference today with State Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, who is ticked off about the university not providing information about how much a nonprofit university foundation is paying her. From the SF Chronicle:
Yee argues that the CSU Stanislaus Foundation includes university officials and that the contract should be a public record. He's sponsoring a bill that would require private university foundations, including CSU Stanislaus Foundation, to comply with the Public Records Act. Yee claimed the public has a right to know what the university foundation is paying Palin, particularly at a time of rising student fees, and he asked for documents related to her appearance but the university said it had no documents.
Speaking of the former Alaska governor, ABC News figures that Palin has made at least $12 million since quitting her job last summer. That covers the speaking gigs, her book, and the shows on Fox and The Learning Channel. Actually, $12m sounds low.
