*Lede of the day

It's from the NY Daily News and it's about - who else? - Tiger Woods:

Tiger Woods' humiliated wife has bought herself a little island hideaway as reports swirled that she's moved out on her sex-crazed hubby.

Admit it, wouldn't you love to write a newspaper story with the phrase "sex-crazed hubby? In case you're interested, the latest is that Mrs. Woods has bought a $2 million home in Sweden, perhaps to get away from Mr. Woods (it's only accessible by ferry). Also, Tiger's mother-in-law, apparently visiting the not-so-happy couple in Florida, was hospitalized early this morning. Condition is not believed to be serious. And no Tiger roundup would be complete without a new babe - this time it's L.A.-based porn star Holly Sampson, star of the memorable "Cheating Housewives 6." I think that makes eight. Or is it 10?

Meanwhile, there's this from the WSJ:

According to people familiar with the situation, Mr. Woods's camp also has retained Lavely & Singer, a Los Angeles law firm known for representing Hollywood stars. One person says the firm is working on a deal that would pay Rachel Uchitel, a woman who has been alleged in published reports to have had an affair with Mr. Woods, in exchange for not talking to the media. Representatives from Lavely & Singer, Ms. Uchitel and Mr. Woods declined to comment.

All along, the betting has been that Tiger-gate will blow over and not affect his endorsements with Nike, American Express, etc. That's still probably true, but you have to wonder how much longer this nonsense can go on without some permanent damage to the brand. Frankly, I think we're there.

*Bloomberg reports that all Tiger Woods ads have been pulled from prime-time by the TV broadcast networks and 19 cable channels. Woods was also absent from commercials on a number of weekend sports programs.
