The media giant founded by NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is a surprise last-minute entry, the NY Post's Keith Kelly reports. Bloomberg had been approached earlier about buying the magazine but passed in part because the asking price was too high. Now it's become the frontrunner, according to Kelly. Another strong contender is Bruce Wasserstein, owner of New York Magazine and The Deal. Final bids are due next week. BW's Jon Fine also has the story.
