Gannett is shutting down the Citizen, Arizona's oldest continuously published daily newspaper, though the online version will keep operating (without news coverage). Last month a couple of L.A.-area publishers were in talks about a deal (one of them went so far as to post an ad on Craigslist for advertising salespeople) but those discussions apparently fell through.
