February's drop in Long Beach was even worse than at the Port of L.A. (and that was pretty awful). Inbound container traffic fell 43.3 percent, outbound dropped 37 percent and overall traffic was down 40 percent. One explanation for the huge decline was the timing of Chinese New Year, but the real story continues to be the lower demand for TVs, toys, clothes and all the other stuff that's shipped from Asia.
