That would have the Post provide national and international news to all Tribune papers - including the LAT - and presumably result in the closing of dozens of domestic and foreign bureaus. Anyway, Phil Rosenthal at the Chicago Tribune reports that the two sides are not close to a deal (phew!!!). Apparently, the Post wants an outright service agreement while Tribune Co. would prefer some sort of partnership. Tribune is considering other options as well. The WSJ has a story about as possible deal, but added that it was “possible no deal will be reached, or that Tribune and the Washington Post could reach a looser collaboration on news.”
