Here’s one more victim of the credit crunch. Plans for a 45-story luxury condo tower at Santa Monica Boulevard and South Moreno Drive (the old Jimmy's location near the Bev Hills border) have been shelved by Irvine developer SunCal. Lehman Brothers had signed up as an equity partner, which presents a problem considering that there is no more Lehman Brothers. Construction never got started – there's just an empty plot of land. The Business Journal has the story. Earlier this week came word that financing woes would force the British developers of a condo development at the site of the former Robinsons-May department store to re-jigger their plans. The new proposal, which still must be approved by the city of Bev Hills, would include a luxury hotel. That assumes they can get financing.
