Teamsters support WGA

The leader of Teamsters Local 399 is advising members that they should honor WGA picket lines, even if the local itself can't strike, picket or boycott a producer while its contract is in effect. "As for me as an individual, I will not cross any picket line whether it is sanctioned or not because I firmly believe that Teamsters do not cross picket lines," said Leo Reed, in a message to his membership. The key phrase is “as an individual.” None of this is surprising – it’s been pretty much assumed that the Teamsters wouldn’t cross – but it does raise the ante in the days leading up to a possible writers strike. Without Teamsters, you're looking at serious disruption in TV and movie production if there's a WGA walkout. (Variety, Deadline Hollywood Daily)
