Those college commercials...

You know the ones – they’re usually shown around half time of a football game and feature pretty pictures of the campus and earnest looking folks in lab coats. A voiceover tells us about the importance of Trombone U, not just for the students and faculty, but for the entire world. Well, Stanford supposedly takes a more irreverent approach this season. Developed by West Hollywood's Dailey & Associates (part of the Interpublic Group), one ad describes how the school’s faculty discovered the laser, while the visual shows a cat chasing a laser-made red dot. UCLA has come up with a spot from Paul Keye & Partners that focuses on alums and when they realized the school was for them. I haven't seen the spots and sometimes the press releases promise a lot more than what's delivered. So we'll see. (Ad Age)
