Longo tops, Galpin down

The Business Journal's annual list of auto dealerships in L.A. County doesn't usually make for suspenseful reading. Longo Toyota in El Monte has been in the top position for as long as I've been around (and that's a looong time). But the list also shows one of the area's stalwarts, Galpin Ford, falling to third position (Longo Lexus is No. 2). Galpin's new car sales in 2006 dropped 17 percent over the last year. Longo, meanwhile, saw its sales climb 6 percent. And here's quite a statistic: only four of L.A.’s top 25 auto dealerships sell domestic cars. Here's the top 10:

)Longo Toyota
)Longo Lexus
)Galpin Ford
)Mercedes-Benz South Bay
)Norm Reeves Honda Superstore
)Universal City Nissan
)South Bay BMW/Mini
)Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills
)Downtown L.A. Motors Mercedes-Benz
)Power Toyota Cerritos
