L.A. singles are hot

In a matter of speaking. Forbes has come out with its annual list of Best Cities For Singles, and Los Angeles is ranked third, behind SF and NY. It's a pretty silly list, with each city being given a most eligible bachelor and bachelorette (George Clooney and Cameron Diaz? C'mon guys, can't you come up with something a little fresher?). But lists are pretty silly to begin with, and since our fair city manages to be on the short end of so many of them, perhaps we should try to even the score. L.A. ranks well in the nightlife, coolness and culture departments, but not so well in job growth or cost of living. Forbes ranks 40 cities and the usual suspects are in the top and bottom 10 (but why is Miami ranked a lowly 20th?)

TOP 10
San Francisco-Oakland
New York
Los Angeles
Atlanta
Chicago
Washington
San Diego
Seattle
Dallas-Fort Worth
Philadelphia

BOTTOM 10
Buffalo
Tampa-St. Petersburg
Virginia Beach-Norfolk
Jacksonville
Pittsburgh
Salt Lake City
Cleveland
Kansas City
