It's not what you think (even though it is in the NY Post). All the L.A. billionaire wanted to do was pay $17 million for the penthouse of Sky Studios, which is located in Greenwich Village and happens to be a very big deal in the NY social scene because it's often rented out for weddings and other events (that's where Jerry Seinfield got hitched, to give you an idea). Well, the place has been booked over the next few months, and Burkle apparently was willing to hold off taking residence until all the obligations had been met. But Sky Studios owner Jonathan Leitersdorf, an Israeli venture capitalist, has insisted on closing early next month - and basically to hell with the brides (his asking price had been $27 million, so maybe he's a touch sensitive). Anyway, all this has the brides in an uproar - and some are considering a lawsuit for breach of contract. "I planned my entire wedding around this space, the dress, the suit, everything, and now I'm not going to have the wedding I thought of and dreamed of," Julie Taras told the Post. The cancellation notices said something about zoning regulations and a condo board lawsuit, but it turns out that Sky Studios hosted a wedding as recently as last Sunday.
