No worry about Barry Diller being afraid of speaking up - even if it means calling corporate governance activists “birdbrains.” Diller, CEO of IAC/Interactive Corp., was named the nation's highest-paid chief executive in two recent studies - as well as being dinged in relation to IAC's performance. During the Reuters Media Summit, he took special aim at the NYT, which he says has a "loony" view of executive compensation (the paper has reported extensively on Diller's pay and that of other CEOs). As for compensation consultants, they “should be flushed into the East River and no value loss would ever be seen by man.” At least he was good enough to admit that "either dumbly or not," IAC passed on MySpace. At this point, “we don’t see anything big to buy,” he said, noting that most Internet valuations are too high.
