November surprise?

A little away from our usual terrain, but apparently there was some buzz out of Washington this morning about the President's surprisngly light schedule, given that the mid-term elections are only days away. At the White House morning briefing, a reporter observed that the light schedule made it sound “like something is cooking there.” Spokesman Tony Snow replied, “No, not really” - an answer perhaps designed to keep the Dems guessing. Topping the list of blockbuster possibilities, of course, is either the death or capture of Osama bin Laden. By the way, the latest numbers from TradeSports.com, which is an online trading exchange, show a 66 percent chance of the Democrats winning the House and a 68 percent chance of the Republicans holding onto the Senate. Wall Street seems prepared for the Democrats to win something and are shelling out campaign contributions accordingly.
