Longtime radio reporter Steve Futterman is organizing a 20-year reunion of the media folks who covered the people versus Orenthal J. Simpson on Saturday — the 20th anniversary of the day that Simpson was acquitted of murder in Los Angeles courtroom. The Facebook group is officially the O.J. Simpson 20 Anniversary Verdict Gathering, but it's open to anyone who took part in the city's biggest long-term media scrum. This wasn't the final event in the legal saga over the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman — far from it — but it was the single most memorable day after the slow-speed chase in a white Bronco that ended with Simpson's arrest at his home in Brentwood. Have to love the look on Robert (The Original) Kardashian's face when Simpson got off despite, let's just say, a lot of evidence pointing to him and only him. He later lost in civil court and is doing karma time in a Nevada prison on unrelated charges.
The party with a no-host bar is being held Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Front Yard Bar at the Garland Hotel on Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood.
