Jonathan Alcorn photo from June event at home of Tony Pritzker.
You might remember my posts back in June on a new leadership gathering of civic activists, power players and others at the Tony Pritzker home above Beverly Hills. The event was well attended and generated a fair bit of buzz. Now it's going public with an October 19 event at LACMA's Bing Theatre called the Future of Cities: Leading in LA summit event, "to make civic leadership a top priority for LA." Admission starts at $100. From the invitations going out:
You are on our list for next month's Future of Cities summit because you are a recognized leader who can play an integral role in transforming the landscape of LA for the next 20 years.Just like restauranteur & health advocate Bill Chait, who is championing healthy food and a healthy workforce;
And media & civic leader Monica Lozano, who is working to expand Latino civic participation;
Just like The Advancement Project's John Kim, who won’t stop until LA is caring, inclusive, and just;
And KCRW's Madeleine Brand, who is moving LA’s big questions from drive time to prime time;
Alongside LACMA's Michael Govan, who is re-imagining the place of art in LA.
I'm also hearing there is going to be a conversation with Casey Wasserman about the 2024 Olympics, philanthropy in LA and other issues. Here's the Future of Cities: Leading in LA website and a glimpse at the group's current list of supporters.
