Out in Agua Dulce, the horse community of scattered homes and winding roads close by the landmark Vasquez Rocks, a camel being walked by its owner last evening was struck and killed by a driver who reportedly was looking at a cellphone while driving. This was on Agua Dulce Canyon Road near Escondido Canyon Road. On Facebook it sounds like this pet camel was familiar in the community. (Not surprisingly.) The owner walked it often on the side of roads and the camel makes annual appearances in the Agua Dulce Parade, which happens to be tomorrow. Heart-breaking photo posted on Facebook, where the locals are pretty upset.
