Bill Cosby testified in 2005 that he got Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with, and he admitted giving the sedative to at least one woman and "other people," according to documents obtained Monday by The Associated Press. The story led the CBS Evening News last night and is being widely reported as coloring all of the subsequent allegations against Cosby. AP

The United States' 5-2 win over Japan to capture its third Women's World Cup title drew 25.4 million viewers to Fox on Sunday night, according to Nielsen. That massive audience makes it the most-watched soccer game in U.S. history, surpassing the previous record set during last summer's men's World Cup. AdWeek
Add in Telemundo's record audience for the Spanish-language broadcast and the total of 26.7 million viewers exceeds the peak audience for this year's NBA Finals on ABC. No NBA game has drawn a larger audience since 2010 and no Major League Baseball game has drawn more viewers since the 2004 World Series. Variety
Lowell Bergman claims that PBS Frontline killed his team's documentary on gambling in Macau, "Bigger than Vegas," out of fear of lawsuits by Las Vegas moguls Steve Wynn and Sheldon Adelson. PBS execs says they killed it for editorial reasons: "[W]e tried over many iterations to reach an acceptable final edit….Despite more time, Lowell and his team were not able to provide strong enough sourcing and reporting to support key elements of the film." Linda Douglass, the former KNXT reporter in Los Angeles, later Washington correspondent for CBS and ABC, director of communications for the White House Office of Health Reform and senior advisor to Obama's 2008 campaign, is joining Bloomberg Media in September as Global Head of Communications, based in New York.
