The Dodgers joined the data revolution in baseball in a big way by remaking the front office this past winter. Still, you might not have suspected they would be hiring a "data scientist" or even have a research and development team. Baseball Prospectus posted a couple of job openings at Dodger Stadium.

Our friends with the Los Angeles Dodgers Research and Development team are looking for a Senior Developer and a Data Scientist.

EDIT: We have received confirmation that both positions are still open, with application deadlines of June 19 for both. Links now point to updated job descriptions.

Links to full job descriptions:

  • Senior Developer - The Senior Developer will work closely with the Director of R&D and our analytics team to design and build the decision support systems used throughout Baseball Operations.
  • Data Scientist - The Data Scientist will work closely with the Director of R&D and our analytics team to research, develop and test mathematical, statistical, and predictive models to support Baseball Operations.
  • All offers of employment are contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background screening. Current Los Angeles Dodgers employees should submit a cover letter and resume directly to the Human Resources Department for consideration. All other qualified candidates should submit a cover letter and resume online at www.dodgers.com under Job Opportunities.
