It was news on Monday when Jeb Bush hired Santa Monica technologist Ethan Czahor, a co-founder of Hipster.com, to be the chief technology officer of the prospective Republican presidential candidate's PAC, Right to Rise. And it was news on Tuesday when sites like the Huffington Post began reporting that Czahor had made racially insensitive posts about blacks online in the past, and BuzzFeed reported how Czahor was deleting tweets that referred to women as sluts and showed a certain personal sensitivity about gay men looking at him. And it's news now that Czahor has resigned from Team Bush after two days.
"The Right to Rise PAC accepted Ethan Czahor’s resignation today,” Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell said in a statement. “While Ethan has apologized for regrettable and insensitive comments, they do not reflect the views of Governor Bush or his organization and it is appropriate for him to step aside. We wish him the best.”
Czahor gave his side on Twitter.
i only hope that my recent news won't dissuade future techies from entering politics, regardless of political affiliations/backgrounds...
