'Boyhood,' 'Birdman' and six others up for best picture

patricia-arquette-nom.jpgIn this morning's Oscars nominations, the films "Boyhood" and "Birdman" solidified their standing as the movies to beat for top Academy Awards honors. Both were nominated for best picture and best director Oscars, as was "The Imitation Game." "Grand Budapest Hotel’’ joined "Birdman" with the most nominations, nine. “Boyhood” finished the morning with a total of six. Michael Cieply's and Brooks Barnes' take in the New York Times.

In the supporting roles, both Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke of "Boyhood" were nominated.
